A 05E error displayed on the LCD screen may be caused by a malfunction of the brake sensor that activates the auto motor shut-off feature. This error may result in the motor not shutting down or re-activating as expected. Check your bike and ensure it is safe and functioning properly before you ride.

1. Both the RH and LH brake sensors have quick connectors that can be quickly detached to determine which lever side is the cause of the 05E error.

2. The sensor cavity is located behind the brake lever’s oil reservoir. The sensor may have malfunctioned due to water inside the cavity or may need to be re-positioned.
To re-position, dry, or replace the sensor first carefully remove the small set screw (2mm hex tool) located on the underside of the sensor cavity.

3. Use a 7mm wrench to carefully reposition or remove the threaded hex fitting attached to the sensor. Ensure the small spring inside the cavity is kept in place.

The sensor is position sensitive, and the hex fitting should be tightened or loosened till the 05E error display is not shown.  Note: Typical gap 2-4 threads

4.  Squeeze the brake lever to test, and ensure the ( ! ) symbol will display when activated. If drying or repositioning the unit does not solve the motor shut off problem the sensor unit should be replaced. Once the sensor is in place and functioning correctly ensure the set screw is re-installed and tight.
