VoltBike Trio Wheel Removal

Tools/ parts required:

5mm hex key
6mm hex key
Large flat head screwdriver
Rubber mallet (if needed)

Note:

• The rear left-side floating wheel is mounted using two bearings, a sleeve, outer cap and M8 X 30mm axle bolt.
• The rear right-side drive wheel is fixed using a key and slot, outer cap and M8 x 30mm axle bolt.
• The wheel does not need to be removed to replace the tube or tire
• The wheel does not need to be removed to true the wheel (36 hole x 13 gauge spoke)
  
  

Removing the wheels:

• Use a 5mm hex key to remove the two side brake caliper mounting bolts and any inside spacers.

• Remove the brake caliper carefully. Do not squeeze the brake lever while the caliper is not mounted.

• Use a 6mm hex key to remove the M8 axle bolt and outer cap.

• Do this first! Carefully use a large flat head screwdriver to initially pry and shift the wheel from the axle. A small gap should open, and the wheel will slide off.

CAUTION! Do not to bend or damage the brake rotor.

• Only if needed ! use a rubber mallet to firmly and evenly tap the side of inflated tire while slowly spinning the wheel. The wheel should begin to shift off of the axle until removed.

CAUTION ! Do not hammer too hard or damage the rim or spokes.

• Remove or replace the wheel. Check the axle is aligned with wheel off. Use a tool or pipe to bend the axle slightly if needed.

Reinstalling the wheels:

Ensure the bearings are pressed into the left-side hub before reassembling the wheels on the axle. A small amount of grease can be applied to the axle and key-way slot.

• Insert the key in the slot and Install the R wheel on the axle and slide on all the way. If needed use a mallet to evenly tap the wheel till fully seated on the axle.

CAUTION ! Do not hammer too hard or damage the rim or spokes.

• Install the L wheel partway on axle and carefully align the inner aluminium hub sleeve to slide it fully onto the axle. If needed use a mallet to evenly tap the wheel to seat it.

CAUTION ! Do not hammer too hard or damage the rim or spokes.

• Install outer cap and M8 axle bolt. Tighten the bolt while holding the wheel to ensure the bolt is tight to a hard stop.

• Once the wheel is fully installed, seated and axle bolt tight, the brake caliper and side mounting bolts can be reinstalled. Ensure any spacers are reinstalled in place. Ensure the brake is centered on the rotor.

• Recheck all bolts are tight after 12 hours riding time!
