Check that your Starfire light kit has all parts included:
- Light with integrated cable / connector
- On/Off button with integrated cable / connector
- Power cable extension (red plug)
- Rubber button straps ( long and short)
- metal light bracket and M5 bolt/nu
Remove the battery, and hold the bike's power button ON to discharge the controller.
The screen may flash for 1 second and go out. The bike is now fully discharged.
Note: Some bikes may need to have the stock light uninstalled and light cable disconnected from the controller and removed from the downtube of the bike frame.
Place a rag at the bottom of the battery tray to ensure the key lock screws don’t accidentally fall into the frame.
Uninstall the key lock using a small Phillips screwdriver.
Remove two outer screws and one internal screw under the forward cover. Do not lose these screws!
Mount the Starfire Twin Force light to the front fork or front rack of the bike.
Install the on/off button on the handlebar. Carefully route and connect the button cable plug to the light cable plug. Ensure enough cable slack is provided so the cables are not pinched or pulled. Zip tie or secure the cables as needed.
Align and plug in the the power cable extension (red plug) into the
Starfire’s power cable (red plug).
Route the power cable extension ( wire end) through the frame’s downtube hole and up behind the headtube into the battery tray area.
Cut and prepare the battery plug power wires (red and black)
Carefully peel back the existing shrink wrap and cut each wire one a time approximately two inches from the battery plug.
Strip wires at both ends and place new shrink wrap on both wires.
Crimp or solder the three positive wires together.
Crimp or solder the three negative wires together. Ensure a secure electrical connection.
Insulate the new wire connections with electrical tape and/or the shrink wrap already in place.
Re-install the key lock.
Ensure the power wires inside the frame are not pinched or snagged.
Test the light, and secure the routing of any cables.
Ensure cables have the correct amount of slack and will not snag when the front suspension fork is compressed. Excess cable length can be tucked up into the downtube cable slot or up inside the fork’s steer tube. Test ride to ensure the cable are secure.
The Starfire light is directly wired to the 48V battery and should be turned off manually at the handlebar button when the bike is not in use to ensure the battery capacity is not drained unintentionally.
