How much does it cost to charge VoltBike?
In Vancouver, BC, the electricity cost per kWh varies by time, but a good average estimate is 8.91 cents per kWh. For an electric bike with a 36-volt, 10-Amp-hour battery, you can calculate the energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh) as follows:
Multiply 36 volts by 10 Amp-hours to get 360 watt-hours (or 0.36 kWh, since 1,000 watts = 1 kilowatt).
Charging typically takes about 4 to 5 hours, so the total energy used per full charge is approximately:
5×0.36=1.8 kWh
With a rate of 8.91 cents per kWh, charging your bike fully would cost about:
1.8×0.0891=0.16 dollars, or 16 cents
So, in Vancouver, BC, it costs around $0.16 to fully charge an electric bike.
