Will riding in the rain affect the battery?

No, our bikes are tested in the rain whenever it rains on a weekday in Vancouver (which is about half the year), and they handle water exposure well.

However, there are still precautions you should take to minimize the risk:

1. Avoid Deep Water

  • Avoid riding through deep puddles or flooded areas. Water can seep into the battery's electrical connections or the motor, which may cause corrosion or short circuits.

2. Riding Conditions

  • Gentle Rain: Light or moderate rain shouldn't cause significant harm to your battery if the bike is properly sealed.
  • Heavy Rain: In very heavy rain or stormy conditions, it's best to avoid riding, as water may penetrate sensitive parts of the bike.

4. Drying After Riding

  • After riding in the rain, check and dry any exposed parts of the bike, especially around the battery and motor.
  • If the battery gets wet, dry it with a soft cloth, and let it air dry completely before charging or using it again.

5. Maintenance

  • Regularly inspect your Voltbike seals, wiring, and connections to ensure there are no issues with water ingress.

In general, riding in light rain won’t harm the battery if you're careful, but it's always better to err on the side of caution and avoid exposing the bike to excessive moisture when possible.
